UltraTech Cement Q2 Profit Jumps 21.27% to Rs 1,501 Crore as Sales Rise
UltraTech Cement reports a 21.27% rise in Q2 FY27 net profit to Rs 1,501.38 crore as revenue and cement sales increase, while higher input costs push up expenses amid monsoon-related challenges and the ongoing West Asia crisis.
India’s largest cement maker had reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,237.98 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, according to a regulatory filing.
Consolidated revenue from operations rose to Rs 23,295.07 crore in the September quarter from Rs 19,606.93 crore in the year-ago period.
The company’s total income increased 18.44 per cent to Rs 23,405.96 crore from Rs 19,761.07 crore in the same quarter last year.
However, total expenses climbed to Rs 21,338.88 crore during the quarter under review, compared with Rs 18,119.56 crore in the corresponding period last year, largely due to higher input costs.
“UltraTech performed well despite headwinds on account of a monsoon-affected quarter and the ongoing west Asia crisis,” the company said.
Domestic grey cement sales volumes increased 13.8 per cent to 35.94 million tonnes in the second quarter of FY27, compared with 31.58 million tonnes in Q2 FY26.
According to the company, the growth was supported by disciplined execution, an expanded market footprint, cost optimisation and a sharper focus on premium products.
UltraTech’s consolidated sales volume rose 12.9 per cent to 38.22 million tonnes during the quarter, reflecting an increase in overall sales.
The company’s consolidated domestic grey cement capacity stood at 204.7 million tonnes per annum (mtpa), while its global grey cement capacity reached 210.1 mtpa, including 5.4 mtpa of overseas capacity.
“The company is on track with its organic growth capex programme to reach a capacity of 240+ mtpa by March 2028,” it said.
Capacity utilisation also improved to 71 per cent during the quarter, compared with 66 per cent in the same period last year.
“Higher volumes and improved profitability strengthened UltraTech's position in the market,” the company said.
During the quarter, UltraTech Cement commissioned 3.6 mtpa of greenfield integrated capacity at Petnikota in Andhra Pradesh. It also added 1.0 mtpa through debottlenecking at its existing cement plants in Visakhapatnam, Patratu and Nathdwara.
The capacity additions form part of the company’s ongoing expansion programme, under which it aims to increase its capacity to more than 240 mtpa by March 2028.
Despite the increase in quarterly profit, revenue and sales volumes, UltraTech Cement shares closed at Rs 10,620.10 on the BSE on Monday, down 2.82 per cent from the previous close.
